Amanda Lopez - Dean of Academics

Amanda Lopez serves as Dean of Academics at Memphis School of Excellence Elementary Cordova, bringing 18 years of experience in education. She supports academic programs, teacher development, and targeted interventions, with a commitment to strong instruction, individual student needs, and meaningful family partnerships. Since joining the MSE family in 2022, she has served two years as Dean of Students before becoming Dean of Academics. Her experience across both roles informs her approach to supporting student well-being and academic growth.

Ms. Lopez spent 15 years in the classroom: nine in kindergarten, three in third grade, and three in first grade. These experiences deepened her commitment to early literacy and helping children become confident, independent learners. In 2017, she co-developed the supplemental kindergarten curriculum for Memphis-Shelby County Schools. She has also facilitated districtwide professional development and supported educators as a teacher mentor and technology coach. Today, she works alongside teachers to strengthen instructional planning and use assessment data to guide student support.

Ms. Lopez earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis and completed her graduate studies at Christian Brothers University. She holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree, along with credentials in instructional leadership (ILL-B) and reading specialization.

Outside of school, Ms. Lopez loves making memories with her four children and granddaughter. She is excited to welcome a grandson soon! When she finds a quiet moment, a good book and a great cup of coffee make the perfect pair!
